ApexWare is a browser-based software hub for Windows users. It provides one place to open the available interface, view project materials, check setup details, review requirements, and find support information.
You do not need to install a traditional Windows program. After you download the project files, open the main HTML file in a web browser.
ApexWare acts as a central entry point for project resources. The available pages may include:
The project uses HTML, so a current web browser can open it. Microsoft Edge comes with Windows and works well for this type of application.
Use the following setup for the best experience:
You do not need Python, Node.js, or other programming tools to open the main interface.
Follow these steps to download and open ApexWare on Windows.
Open the ApexWare download page:
On the GitHub page, find the green Code button near the top of the file list.
Select Code, then choose Download ZIP.
Windows will save a compressed ZIP file in your Downloads folder. The file name will use the project name, such as apexware-software-hub-main.zip.
Open the Downloads folder.
Right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All.
Choose where you want to save the extracted folder. The desktop or Documents folder works well.
Select Extract. Windows will create a normal folder with the project files.
Open the extracted apexware-software-hub folder.
Find the main HTML file. It is often named index.html.
Double-click index.html. Windows should open the page in your default browser.
If Windows asks which program to use, select Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox.
Do not open the HTML file from inside the ZIP file. Extract the full folder first so the page can load its related files.
The extracted folder may contain several file types:
.html files provide pages and screens..css files control the page layout and visual style..js files add page actions and interactive features..json files may hold settings or project data.README.md file may contain project details. For normal use, open the main HTML file. You do not need to open or change the other files.
If the folder contains more than one HTML file, start with index.html. If that file is not present, open the HTML file with a name such as home.html, start.html, or main.html.
After the page opens, use the links and buttons on the main screen to move through the project.
Common areas may include:
Some links may open files stored in the project folder. Other links may open web pages in a new browser tab. Your browser may ask for permission before opening a local file or a new page.
GitHub may receive new project files over time. To get the latest version:
Visit the project page:
Select the green Code button.
Select Download ZIP again.
Extract the new ZIP file to a new folder.
Open the new folder and double-click index.html.
Keep the old folder until the new version opens as expected. This lets you return to the earlier files if needed.
Right-click the main HTML file, select Open with, and choose Microsoft Edge or another supported browser.
Make sure you extracted the whole ZIP file. The HTML page may need its CSS, JavaScript, image, or data files in the same folder structure.
Do not move the HTML file away from the other project files. Keep the folder structure created by Extract All.
Some links need an internet connection. Check that Windows is online, then refresh the page with Ctrl + R.
Right-click the extracted file, select Properties, and check for an Unblock option near the bottom of the window. If that option appears, select it, choose Apply, and open the file again.
Download the ZIP file again from the project page. A partial download can stop Windows from extracting the folder.
You may have opened a file in a text editor. Close it, right-click the HTML file, select Open with, and choose a web browser.
ApexWare runs as a local HTML project when you open it from your computer. The browser reads the project files from the extracted folder.
Pages that link to GitHub, support services, or other websites need an internet connection. Those pages follow the rules of the external website. Review each page before entering personal information.
You can remove the project by closing the browser and deleting the extracted folder and ZIP file from Windows.
